Scholarships for U.S. Military Families

John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families (Gilman-McCain) of Active or Activated Military Personnel

Eligibility

Gilman McCain Scolarship in gold lettes

  • Are you a child or spousal dependent of active or activated United States military personnel?
  • Are you receiving any type of Title IV federal financial aid?
  • Are you in the process of applying to, or accepted into, a credit-bearing study abroad or internship abroad program that starts between Dec. 1, 2025, and Oct. 31, 2026?
  • Are you willing to write three mini essays for an excellent scholarship opportunity?
  • Are you a citizen or national of the United States?

If you answered “yes” to all of these questions, you may be eligible to apply for the Gilman-McCain Scholarship, which provides a flat $5,000 (or more with supplemental awards) for study abroad and internships abroad! The scholarship provides awards for child and spousal dependents of active or activated United States military personnel during the time of application.
