The College of Visual Arts and Design students, faculty, staff and administrators are proud to host a special open house and celebration of the visual arts, design and scholarship in art history and art education. Open to the public, we welcome our North Texas, Denton, Dallas and Fort Worth neighbors, alumni, students, educators, friends, family and art aficionados everywhere.

"CVAD Celebrates is more than an event — it is a testament to the creativity, innovation, and critical impact of art and design. This special occasion highlights the college’s regional and global prominence while strengthening connections, fostering cultural understanding, and showcasing the transformative power of creative expression and design thinking. From state-of-the-art technologies to timeless artistic traditions, we honor the excellence of our students — more than 2,500 emerging artists, designers, educators, and historians — whose work fills all four floors of our building on this special day. This event provides us a moment to open the doors wide, welcoming alumni, donors, and friends to experience the boundless talent within the College of Visual Arts and Design. CVAD Celebrates reveals the emerging creativity and leadership shaping our future." ~ Dean Karen Hutzel, Ph.D., Professor of Art Education

Plenty to See Here

Art Building, Tours: Home of the largest art program in the nation, the 238,000-square-foot, four-story, open-concept building features named spaces that honor the friends of UNT who are leaving a lasting legacy in the College of Visual Arts and Design. Now one of the world's most technologically advanced art facilities, CVAD's new home enables UNT's community of artists, designers and scholars to develop and grow into the creative leaders of tomorrow.

The building's fabrication labs foster innovation with 3D modeling and printing capabilities, multi-axis routers and digitized textiles equipment. And the New Media Art program — a discipline that combines new technology with traditional art forms — now has access to a digital studio adjacent to a full-scale photography studio.

The courtyard, sky bridges and floor-to-ceiling windows allow passersby a view of UNT's innovative creativity, and visitors who come inside will be treated to galleries featuring a wide variety of works by renowned, emerging and student artists.

Art Annex: The 25,242-square-foot Art Annex is the new home of the Studio Arts ceramics program and 40 graduate-student studios, dedicated spaces to inspire creativity and exploration.

CVAD Galleries: The office of the CVAD Galleries at UNT, which comprises three galleries, supports the educational mission of the College of Visual Arts and Design and the university, enriches the aesthetic environment and serves as a cultural resource for the public.
