Michael Monk aims to break down traditional masculine stereotypes by creating bold and inclusive designs. At UNT, he has developed skills in clothing design, construction, fashion draping, and CAD skills, drawing inspiration from identity, culture and self-expression. In addition to design, Monk is passionate about fashion styling and photography, which he explores as a minor. His senior collection is titled "CRUSH," a men’s streetwear line. When not in the studio or behind the camera, Monk enjoys sharing his life on social media and embracing new experiences.

Concept: "CRUSH"
This illustration of a grungy menswear lineup explores texture, layering, and distortion through mixed fabrics and sheer elements. The palette stays muted with sharp hits of red, reinforcing a raw, industrial mood. This concept channels the raw energy of underground street culture through layered textures, distressed finishes and experimental menswear silhouettes. Inspired by rebellion, individuality and the emotional intensity behind self-expression, Monk’s concept illustration explores the tension between vulnerability and toughness through manipulated fabrics, unconventional proportions and industrial details.

Michael Monk’s menswear collection features an indie sleaze aesthetic through denim shorts, mesh tops, and pants, each with contrasting materials. “CRUSH” transforms contemporary streetwear into a study of texture, identity and attitude. Featuring distressed denim, sheer layering, treated fabrics and deconstructed tailoring, the menswear collection blends grunge-inspired aesthetics with modern silhouettes to create looks that feel both confrontational and deeply personal. Each garment reflects Monk’s interest in storytelling through fashion and the evolving language of streetwear design.
