I’m Kalli Ward, a graphic designer and illustrator! I’ve always had a passion for drawing and visual design, and after becoming a designer, I aim to bring every project to life through thoughtful brainstorming and impactful designs. I’m constantly inspired by other artists and designers and will always want to create something meaningful. When I’m not designing, you’ll find me drawing, playing video games, watching a movie or show, or relaxing with my cat, Pepper.
Homesense is a home décor and furniture retail brand that focuses on offering stylish,
high-quality home goods at discounted prices. Unlike traditional furniture stores,
it blends a “treasure hunt” shopping experience with curated sections for furniture,
lighting, décor, and organization, making it both affordable and design-forward. In
my redesign, I reimagined the Homesense logo to better reflect this balance of style
and functionality. I created a simple, marketable mark that strengthens brand recognition
and supports clearer in-store organization. By dividing a house silhouette with a
chair icon into three distinct color sections, the design reinforces the brand’s palette
while visually referencing its core product categories. The result is a clean, modern
identity that aligns with Homesense’s accessible, design-focused shopping experience.
Vincent Ferrané is a contemporary photographer known for his quiet, intimate imagery
that captures everyday moments with a strong sense of emotion and light. His series,
Inner, focuses on personal relationships and domestic spaces, using soft tones and
natural light to evoke closeness, vulnerability, and stillness. From this, I designed
a six-page magazine spread to highlight Ferrané and his series Inner, using warm tones,
generous white space, and a delicate serif typeface to mirror his intimate, light-filled
compositions. The layout isolates imagery and emphasizes subtle gestures, visually
echoing the emotional closeness present in his work and approach as a photographer.
Torchy’s Tacos is a popular fast-casual restaurant known for its creative, “damn good”
tacos, bold flavors, and irreverent brand personality. Founded in Austin, it combines
a laid-back, edgy vibe with inventive menu items and a loyal following, making it
a standout in the competitive taco scene. In my rebrand, I redesigned Torchy’s Tacos’
logo and full brand identity to modernize its playful, high-energy atmosphere. I developed
a new logo, storefront concepts, packaging, menus, staff aprons, advertisements, and
mood-driven visuals, creating a cohesive system that refreshes the multi-million-dollar
brand while preserving its bold, quirky personality.
I co-designed and physically bound an eight-page annual report for Human Animal Bond
Research Institute, collaborating with a partner, Elizabeth Taylor, to translate the organization’s research on the mental and emotional benefits of
pet companionship into an accessible, engaging publication. The report highlights
key findings and accomplishments through creative data visualizations, while a warm
color palette, approachable illustrations, and clean layout balance scientific clarity
with a friendly, compassionate tone, reflecting HABRI’s mission and ensuring readability
throughout.
