My first interest in design or architecture stemmed from the scaled models I would see in movies or displayed in buildings. I was enamored by the tiny details, the intricacies of the design, but also the sheer adorability of the small buildings. As I got older and realized what design could do, I became interested because of the impact that a designer can have on people's lives. Design impacts every person's experience of a built space, their conveniences and inconveniences, their appreciation of beauty and details, and especially their interpersonal interactions. As dr. Park told us in class once — "design is the love of humans." design is dedicating yourself to enriching and improving the lives of the people who will meet, visit, work, create, eat, and inhabit the spaces that we have the privilege of creating. These reasons are why I wanted to plant myself in design and see what impact I could have on people.

Throughout my time as a design student at UNT, I have learned so much. I have become a more confident designer and person, and UNT has allowed me to grow, learn, and explore many different facets of design, the creative and the technical sides. I have learned to think differently, to develop my spatial awareness, and to create relationships with my peers. I gained all the skills I will need to begin my next journey into the professional workforce. After graduation, I will stay in the dfw area for a few years, trying to learn as much as possible about all different sectors of design. I want to understand as much as I can about this profession before I (if ever) settle into one specialty. I hope to work with people who are passionate about design and the connection to humans, who share my appreciation of the world. I also hope to see many different parts of the world and get the opportunity to work and design in a multitude of different creative spaces.
