Hi, I’m Josh, a graphic designer and forever student, always learning more abour graphic design. I’ve always been drawn to art and design as a way to communicate ideas creatively and solve problems in a visual way. I believe that design is not always a straight path, and that sometimes you need to step back to make a leap forward. I focus on creating work that’s both visually striking and practical.
In Fall 2022, our class collaborated with the director of UNT Opera to design promotional
posters for "Carmen" by Georges Bizet. Drawing inspiration from Spanish and Mediterranean
poster art of the era in which the opera is set, I created a design that captured
the drama and atmosphere of the production. My poster was one of four selected for
official use by UNT Opera and later received recognition with an award from Graphis the
following semester.
This cookbook was designed to take something as simple as grilled cheese and turn
it into something a lot more luxurious. "The Elevated Grilled Cheese Cookbook" is
separated into three chapters, each one more elevated than the last. This was printed
by Blurb.
Jerry's Artarama is a popular art supply store chain among both novice and established
artists headquartered in North Carolina. This conceptual design leaned into some of
the brand's older branding, pulling from the Lil' Jerry the mascot the brand loves,
bringing the icon to a newer audience while not getting rid of its classic smile and
art style.
The Palace of the Lost City resort in Sun City, South Africa, was a team design project
for the website of a luxury safari resort built in a palace. We researched the resort,
analyzed competitors, and developed visitor personas. I curated most of the content,
selected photos, and ensured all site functions worked in Figma web application. Our
site received an Honorable Mention in Graphis, and the project strengthened my teamwork
skills.
Josh will send a new poster image.
Varsity Donuts Conceptual Poster Series: Created for Varsity Donuts, a beloved shop in Manhattan, Kansas — home to Kansas State University — this conceptual, text-driven poster series uses clever copywriting and minimal imagery to connect with a college audience. The ad copy draws on familiar elements of student life, such as late-night study sessions and early morning classes, making each design relatable, eye-catching, and timely for the campus crowd.
