UNT Earns NASAD Re-Accreditation, Affirming National Standards in Art and Design Education

The University of North Texas earned re-accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, or NASAD, in November 2025, marking the successful conclusion of more than 22 months of sustained, collaborative work across the institution.

The re-accreditation affirms UNT’s commitment to excellence in art and design education and recognizes the collective efforts of faculty, staff and students across the College of Visual Arts and Design. Institutions typically undergo the NASAD review process every 10 years.

NASAD re-accreditation signals to students, alumni and external partners that UNT meets — and continues to advance — the highest national standards for art and design education. It validates the strength of the curriculum, the expertise and dedication of faculty and staff, and the quality of facilities and resources that support artistic inquiry, experimentation and professional preparation.

Beyond the outcome, the re-accreditation process itself serves as a rigorous exercise in reflection and growth. Through an extensive self-study and peer review, UNT demonstrated its commitment to continuous improvement, accountability and thoughtful stewardship of its academic and creative mission.

For students, NASAD re-accreditation enhances the value of their degrees, supports eligibility for financial aid and professional opportunities, and reinforces confidence that they are being prepared to succeed in competitive and evolving creative fields. For faculty and staff, it recognizes years of collaboration, innovation and sustained excellence in teaching, research and service. For the broader community, it underscores CVAD’s role as a cultural leader and a trusted center for artistic excellence.

Ultimately, NASAD re-accreditation is more than a credential. It reflects a shared purpose and an enduring commitment to educating creative thinkers who will shape culture, enrich society and imagine new possibilities for the future.
