What led you to pursue Interior Design?
I developed a strong interest in the built environment and visual arts from a young
age. Throughout high school, I participated in the visual arts program and took various
art, art history, and design courses, which furthered my passion. During my senior
year, I took a civil engineering course where I learned about the foundations of engineering
and civil architecture, as well as how to use design programs such as Revit and AutoCAD.
While I enjoyed the class, I realized that what interested me most was the design
thinking and development phases. This realization prompted me to apply to design schools
to pursue a career in interior design.
What are your hopes for the future of design?
I hope to see a future for design with greater early exposure to architecture and
interior design careers, promoting equity and diversity within the industry. Additionally,
I believe it is crucial to maintain strong relationships with industry partners such
as manufacturers, installers, and builders. What I love most about our industry is
the opportunity to form close kinships with our collaborators.
