"Marking A Milestone: Reflections on the 130-year history of UNT's College of Visual Arts and Design" by Lisa Sciortino, a senior communications specialist in the Division of University Brand Strategy and Communications.

Art classes were taught here in 1893, just three years after the university's founding. A century later, the program separated from the College of Arts and Sciences to become the School of Visual Arts. In 2007, it grew into UNT's College of Visual Arts and Design.

Read the article, see the historical photos, and read quotes by Dean Karen Hutzel, professors Dornith Doherty, Letitia Huckaby, Johnnie Stark and more!

North Texan magazine connects UNT alumni and friends to the university and keeps them up to date with what's happening on campus and with our community members. The magazine is brought to you by the Division of UBSC.
