Juan Jose Zevallos-Casas
About Me: Fashion is a form of adornment. I have always considered it an art form of drawing out reality, harnessing pieces from the world around you. Clothing should enhance a person’s aesthetic. My clothes take inspiration from shapes and patterns to create an identity, a feeling of uniqueness. I often combine silhouettes, mediums and elements to transform the clothing I see around in everyday life. My work encompasses darker moodier pallet of deep muted tones, an avant-garde edge to create a decadence of drama and allure. Focus on imagination, building a fantasy from eras unexplored or parallel worlds is pivotal to my design process. The juxtaposition of lush fabrics such as velvet, leather, and satin and ornate embellishments evoke a theatrical sense to the work I wish to create like looking into an old portrait painting and finding a sense of macabre beauty between the strokes of paint.
