"Diaries of Home" features works by women and nonbinary artists who explore the multilayered concepts of family, community, and home.
Letitia Huckaby is an acclaimed American photographer who explores Black American heritage, cultural traditions, and faith. Huckaby's recent projects include a major museum exhibition, a feature in the New York Times, and a new publication.
Huckaby’s work is rooted in faith, family, and legacy and is a time capsule for the African American experience. She investigates the relationship between the past and the present and whether things have changed or remained the same; she builds history into her work through her process and physical materials. Each of Huckaby’s works starts with an image and pushes the boundaries of photography as it comes to fruition. She uses the medium in untraditional ways to contribute to a new visual language.
Huckaby holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma, a B.F.A. in photography from the University of Boston at Lesley, and an M.F.A. in Photography (2010) from UNT CVAD.
