Department of Design Student Honor and Congratulations to Jazmine Garcia
Exciting news to share!
Jazmine Garcia’s sophomore-year illustration, "Umbrella Species," has been published in the Fall 2024 Communication Arts 65th Illustration Annual! Garcia, a senior Communication Design major with a concentration in Graphic Design, is one of only 18 students whose work was accepted for international publication!
The magazine title cover illustration is based on the article “Wolves and brown bears among wildlife making “exciting” comeback in Europe” by biodiversity writer Phoebe Weston in “The Guardian.”

“CommArts is one of hardest competitions to get into, especially for students,” says Stephen Zhang, associate professor of Communication Design.
Garcia created the work in Zhang’s Image Making and Color Theory course in the Fall of 2022.
CVAD's Graphic Design Program ranks #5 among public colleges & universities in the nation! — top 2% and number 2 in the Top 10 in Texas!
