Favorite quote: "Designers are well equipped to help solve humanity's most complex problems." - Cindy Allen
Growing up, my creativity stemmed from my mother, who taught my sister and me the importance of investing time in activities that bring you joy. From watching Youtube tutorial videos on how to hand sew, needlepoint, crochet, and many other hobbies, I enjoyed the journey of conceptualization to the final product. Having never taken an art class before enrolling in the College of Visual Arts and Design, it was intimidating to see all of the talent and skill so many had acquired beforehand. It was challenging at first, but I learned to have confidence in my work and how the assimilation of holistic design principles became my driving form giver. I want to advocate for sustainable and meaningful design choices continually. There is a notion that interior design is solely intended for those who can afford luxury products, therefore, one of the areas I will focused on throughout my studies and, hopefully, in my career is how design can be used to help all people. My time at UNT helped me to define what kind of designer I aim to be, and I thank the faculty of the Interior Design program at CVAD for all of their guidance and encouragement through the years. Upon graduating, I am set to work at Harrison as a junior - level architectural technician, and I am very excited to gain experience within this firm.
