ASID 2022 Texas Student Symposium Real World Design Week, Feb. 28–March 4

ASID 2022 Student Symposium: Real World Design WeekASID Texas Chapter event, "Student Symposium: Real World Design Week," is scheduled from Feb. 28 through March 4.

Real World Design Week, RWDW, is an excellent opportunity for students to network with professionals and gain real-world experience as it relates to interior design. Students have an opportunity to shadow (virtually or in-person) a designer for a day, learning what a day in the office, out at showrooms or with clients is all about. Students can shadow one designer per day and there are four days of shadow experiences, which gives students a chance to learn from different designers who practice various types of design. For example, a student can shadow a residential designer on Monday and then a healthcare designer on Thursday.

In addition to the shadow experiences, students can participate in the Friday events across the chapter, which are listed on the student symposium website. An overview of the experiences is listed below.

  • Austin: Residential and Multi-Family Project Tours
  • Dallas: Tour of the World Trade Center and lunch at Minka Air
  • Fort Worth: Tour of Knoll and Herman Miller dealerships, architecture firm tour and a hospitality design tour
  • San Antonio: Tour of a to–the–trade showroom (ITC) and lunch

Scholarships!

The Chapter is awarding four $1,000 scholarships! These are merit-based scholarships, so no extra design work is needed from students.

The deadline for RWDW student sign-up is Feb.14, 2022; scholarship applications are due by Feb. 21.
