Job Description: Junior Designer 

The Junior Designer is responsible for assisting in the development of project deliverables in all aspects of the interior design process, including presentation materials, schematic design, design development, contract documents and renderings while ensuring these elements meet the goals and objectives set forth by the project team and the Client. The Junior Designer works closely with the Project Director, Senior Designer(s), Designer(s) and Intern(s) depending upon the scope and schedule of the project. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develops the project design appropriate to the project scope and budget with the guidance of the project director, senior designer(s), and/or designer(s). 
  • Assists with the selection of project furnishings and architectural finishes within the project design schedule. 
  • Prepares preliminary design concepts and alternatives for review by the senior team. 
  • Works with all project consultants (including, but not limited to, architect, MEP, lighting, art etc.) during all design phases. 
  • Monitors time on projects / and on a weekly basis, and informs the studio director and/or senior designer(s), of project status and current obstacles. 
  • Attends meetings with clients or other team members as required by the studio director, senior designer(s), and/or designer(s). 
  • Assists in the production of decorative lighting, furniture layouts and FF&A specifications. 
  • Assists in the production of interior architectural documentation. 
  • Completes field verifications if required. 
  • Coordinates the assembly of project books and documentation. 

Qualifications 

  • A degree in interior design from a CIDA-accredited program or architecture from a NAAB accredited program. 
  • 0(+) years of experience (previous internship within the design industry required). 
  • Technical knowledge of design and production software (i.e., AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, InDesign, Photoshop, Revit, and SPEXX etc.) and knowledge of MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are also required. 
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work collaboratively with individuals throughout the organization. 
  • Requires organization and time management skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize. 
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
