Doug May represents CVAD as speaker at IDEEC in Chuncheon, South Korea

Assistant Professor Douglas May represented UNT CVAD Communication Design at the International Design Education Expo and Conference 2023 in Chuncheon, Republic of Korea, June 3–4. He was one of 43 educators who lectured from 20 leading university design programs in Belgium, China, Germany, Ghana, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Macedonia, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. In all, 650 poster works were exhibited at the Gangwon Institute of Design Promotion from more than 55 universities in 20 countries. The conference was held at Kangwon National University with dignitaries in attendance, including the provincial governor, the provincial council chairman, the Chuncheon mayor, and the university's president.

The IDEEC is an international event initiated and founded by Prof. Chang Kim and developed through global partners from various design institutions. Through this event, designers, educators, and students experience professional and personal growth by sharing the desire to help shape aspiring minds of the future.

May holds undergraduate degrees in design from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, and ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, Calif., and received his M.F.A. from Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas. His career design work has been exhibited globally and reproduced in major industry publications, including Communication Arts, Graphis, AIGA, Type Directors Club, D&AD, VIDAK, KSBDA, and the Art Director’s Club. "How Magazine" cited his Dallas-based design firm, May & Co., as a hot firm to watch.

May is a past president of the Dallas Society of Visual Communication. His clients have included AT&T, The Washington Opera, Neiman Marcus, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, SMU, Texas Instruments, Turner Construction, Hilti, and Zebco. May has been recognized as an AIGA Fellow for contributions to the design profession.
