His scholarship and work on a case study titled "La Raza" [The Race] garnered this prestigious award. The FSF is the foremost fashion-oriented education and workforce development nonprofit organization in the U.S.

Each year FSF holds a case-study competition to determine the best scholars from across the country, culminating in a conference and gala in New York City. Students compete across the country by developing case studies for industry review. These case studies explore one of four specialized areas: business strategy, merchandising, marketing analytics, or design and product development. Ramirez's case study explores Chicano culture and its influence on modern fashion.

Scholarship funds range in awards from $7,500 to $25,000 and apply to educational expenses such as tuition, summer intern housing, study abroad, etc.

Ramirez was one of only 127 students in the U.S. and one of three from UNT; two other honorees are UNT merchandising seniors Amira Linson and Fatima Barati from the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism. Students toured Conde Nast, where they met Anna Wintour, chief content officer, Condé Nast and global editorial director, “Vogue,” and other senior editors of the prestigious media firm. They also met with prospective employers to gain access to phenomenal internships and careers in the fashion industry.

The Fashion Scholarship Fund aims to educate young fashion professionals. To accomplish this mission, the organization raises millions annually from individual and corporate sponsors, such as Burlington Stores, Coach, Levi Strauss & Co., Louis Vuitton, Macy's, Nike, PVH, and Ralph Lauren, to name a few.

The deadline to apply for the 2024 FSF Scholarship is Oct. 16, 2023, at 11:59 AM EST.
