Communication Design graduates sweep the Best Senior Portfolio awards at the Dallas Show

Three UNT Communication Design 2022 B.F.A. graduates swept the Best Senior Portfolio awards at the 53rd Annual Dallas Show, June 4, 2022, in Dallas at the Fashion Industry Gallery. The Best Senior Portfolio award was the only student category awarded due to this year's cancelation of the National Student Show.

The winners are:

  • Kristina Armitage, 1st place, $1500 scholarship, hired at Quanta Magazine, New York City
  • Gina Lecca, 2nd place, $1000 scholarship, hired at Caliber Creative, Dallas
  • Ashley Owen, 3rd place, $500 scholarship, hired at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, PwC, Dallas

The annual Dallas Show is the leading juried competition and awards show for professionals in the Southwest and is hosted by the Dallas Society of Visual Communication. The five national judges included Chris Buck, award-winning photographer and creative director, Alex Center, designer, Brooklyn, N.Y., Dian Holton, senior creative director, AARP,  Gabriela Namie, art director for Google YouTube, and Rich Tu, creative director, Brooklyn, N.Y.

In attendance at the show was a powerhouse of industry professionals that included UNT Department of Design faculty Brandon DeLoach, Karen DorffWhitney Holden, Erica Holeman, Douglas May, David Wolske and Stephen Zhang.
