I’ve been interested in practical creativity from a young age. When I was in elementary school, I would tag along with my realtor parents to open houses in order to evaluate how nice the houses looked and the successfulness of their layouts. Not only did I look at how the place looked, but how and why did it function the way it did. Why was there a light switch on the outside of the bathroom? Why do mirrors open up a space? By high school I had turned to graphic design, working as a graphics editor for the school yearbook and competing in (and winning) state level competitions. Now graduating college, I apply the same part of my brain that I used as a kid to my design work, seeking for not only creative and gorgeous solutions but functional and thoughtful ones. In my free time you’ll find me playing folk or rock guitar, relaxing in a hammock, and/or sipping on a whiskey or amber ale.
What’s something that is always on your work desk?
A spoon and a jar of natural peanut butter for that deliciously sweet protein energy boost.
