Stephen Zhang wins ArtistsNetwork.com's Best in Show

The spring 2021 edition of ArtistsNetwork.com's Watercolor Artist magazine features "Paintings with Power" that presents prize-winning works from the 12th Annual Watermedia Showcase in which Stephen Zhang, ('94, MFA, Communication Design) assistant professor, communication design, earned the Best of Show award. In an article by Robert K. Carsten titled "Seeing Connection," Zhang's portrait of an Afghan refugee family "depicts a story of relationships in a masterful composition that captures figures "in the moment."" 
 
"Together," a painting depicting an Afghan refugee family living in Dallas was one of the four illustrations done for Faces of Dallas, a multi-disciplinary collaboration that involved vocal performance, composers, poets, multimedia arts, and the public. The concert was part of the program of Verdigris Ensemble and was performed in the 2019 Soluna International Music and Art Festival.
