Oct. 15, 2020 — The University of North Texas earned multiple rankings in The Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine’s “Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics” lists for the number of Hispanic students enrolled at the university and the total number of degrees earned.

UNT awarded 1,793 bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic students in 2019, earning it No. 30 in the nation, and 276 master’s degrees, landing it at 56. As the home of the top-ranking College of Visual Arts and Design, UNT came in at No. 10 in the U.S. for visual and performing arts degrees earned by Hispanic students. The total enrollment of Hispanic students in 2018-19 placed UNT at No. 44 among four-year schools.

This fall, UNT enrolled more than 10,000 Hispanic students, which is a 6.6% increase over last year. With its growing Hispanic student population, this year UNT also became one of only 16 Tier One research universities designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution out of the total 131 Tier One research universities. Being an HSI enables the university to receive additional federal funds to support and expand programs for Hispanic students.
