Manolo Design Studio: Project Designer

Oct. 22, 2021 — Manolo Design Studio, MDS, is an architecture and design company focused on creating a tailored contextual residential design for its clients. We integrate architecture, interiors, landscape and furnishings by listening to a client’s needs about their lifestyle.  

The ideal Project Designer will be a problem solver, analytical, independent and have an inclination for architecture and design. The candidate should be quick on his/her feet to make a client smile, but also calm to diffuse a tense situation in the same meeting.    

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are an ideal work week but are dependent on the projects in process. The applicant should expect the first few weeks of his/her employment to differ from the following breakdown as the workload may be high at the time of hiring, and deadlines will be given based on Manolo Design Studio prior commitments. 

Development – 25 hours

•    Architectural drafting and development of projects through all phases of design
•    Drawing corrections per Project Architect’s redlines
•    Schedule meetings with Project Architect for review of redlines upon completion
•    Attend Client meetings, take meeting minutes, and provide support as needed

Coordination – 3 hours

•    Of drawing set with Interior Designers
•    Of drawing set with Engineering 
•    With City/Governing Body to insure project viability
•    With Contractor during bidding/permitting process

Construction Administration – 5 hours

•    Implementation of drawings 
•    Project responses for requests for information from Contractors/Clients as needed
•    Site visits to coordinate project as needed, or weekly, with Contractors/Vendors/Subcontractors/Homeowners

Design and Quality Control - 5 hours

•    Curate and maintain project’s conceptual board for ongoing specificity 
•    Quality control for all projects, in conjunction with Project Architects
•    Start and maintain a library of project concepts, details, standards for future implementation

Administration – 2 hours

•    Weekly design meeting with the design team led by Studio Director to ensure overall progress and quality
•    Follow up and provide weekly status on open items from weekly meetings
•    Refine office standards for all design processes in conjunction with Office Manager

Qualifications

•    Architecture Degree Preferred (Bachelors or Masters), but not required
•    AutoCAD Proficiency (3+ Years)
•    SketchUp Experience (3 years)
•    Adobe Suite knowledge
•    MS Office Suite proficiency
•    Attention to detail/accuracy 
•    Punctuality
•    Experience with shared data storage solutions preferred (Dropbox)
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Ability to independently stay current on Architecture and Interior Design detailing and trends
