Project Industry: Education

Favorite quote: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Michael Scott

Starting at three years of age, my mom purchased a collection of plastic animals and dollhouses for me. as an only child, I had endless hours to play by myself and decorate every inch of my room like an African safari or midwest farm. by the fifth grade, this collection was abundantly extensive with 75+ animals, several people making up different families, and tons of small dollhouse furniture that could be re-arranged over and over. some people may not see this as mainstream, but where’s the fun in being mainstream? the fond memories I have with this collection helped me realize my creativity at an early age. I still have the collection today and hope to pass it on to my children someday. now I’m getting ready for my senior pictures, sending out graduation announcements, and planning my senior trip. I’m ecstatic to live my dream true, and I can’t wait to graduate in May with my BFA in interior design.

A gist of the concept statement: through interior design, the ability to help assist, shape, and build a successful student journey is the basis for the fort worth academy project. The gist of the first case study in color theory is green is peaceful and helps people relax. red and yellow are naturally experienced as stimulating and disagreeable, that these colors focus people on the outward environment, and they produce forceful expansive behavior. a gist of the second case study is that there is increasing evidence that poor classroom acoustics can create a negative learning environment for many students, especially those with hearing impairments, learning difficulties, or where English is an additional language. a gist of the third case study is as acknowledged today, using local materials is one of the major components of sustainable design and construction. daylight design is considered one of the major points in the leed criteria of indoor environmental quality and energy efficiency.
