Miller’s legacy professional archive of research, writings, a corporate communications firm, Cheryl D. Miller Design, Inc., New York City, is now a holding of The Cheryl D. Miller Collection at Stanford, Stanford University, Stanford, Calif. She has been recognized as a national leader of minority rights and advocacy in the graphic design industry. Miller's accomplishments have been further recognized by the AIGA Design Profiles which feature design leaders who have embraced diversity, equality, and inclusion as a part of their mission.

Miller holds the Master of Science-Communications Design degree from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., a Master's of Divinity from the Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, Md. She is a former business owner of Cheryl D. Miller Design, Inc.

Miller is a design industry winner, of countless awards such as Awards of Special Merit, Association of Graphic Arts; Best of Category, PIA Awards; Award of Excellence, PIA Awards; Graphic Excellence, Neenah Paper Awards; Certificate of Excellence, The Art Director’s Club of New Jersey; Various Awards of Excellence: Art Director’s Club Awards, Desi Awards, Peabody Awards, Crystal Awards—Business Women of the Year, Ceba Award, Broadcast Design Awards.
