The award is given annually to an outstanding North Texas artist who has exhibited professionally for at least 10 years and established a proven track record as a community advocate for the visual arts.

Eggert, in the CVAD Department of Studio Art is the program coordinator for the sculpture program and an interdisciplinary artist who takes the concepts of language and time as her subject matter. Using components common to commercial signage, in particular neon lighting and billboards, Eggert gives form to these intangible elements. The messages that comprise her works — inspired by a combination of physics and philosophy — often call for introspection and invite viewers to contemplate their place within the world they inhabit, where they are now and where they envision themselves in the future.
