Andrew DeCaen among 30 artists selected for L.A. billboard exhibition

Photo of billboard on a building showing people standing in lineApril 5, 2021 — Andrew DeCaen, associate professor, Studio Art: Printmaking, is one of 30 artists selected to have work reproduced on billboards throughout Los Angeles for the 2021 L.A. Billboard Exhibition, April 5–30.

Selected for The Billboard Creative's seventh exhibition bringing large-format art from emerging and established artists to 30 billboards across Los Angeles, DeCaen's drawing "Line XI" is reproduced on a billboard at Melrose Avenue and Gramercy Place in Los Angeles. The show was curated by Victoria Burns, art historian and member of the Association of Professional Art Advisors.

DeCaen "is an artist exploring works on paper disciplines including drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. His work is known for examining mundane experiences in contemporary life with special interests in rituals and habits surrounding eating and the body. His recent work studies images of people standing in lines, without [the] clear context of the lines’ purpose. They suggest our connectedness and our separateness through body language and physical appearance." ~ The Billboard Creative, non-profit arts organization
