Art League Houston Honors Vicki Meek as Artist of the Year

Vicki Meek, head and shoulders portraitArt League Houston is celebrating Dallas-based Artist Vicki Meek, CVAD adjunct faculty, as the 2021 Texas Artist of the Year. Recognized as an artist, curator, writer, organizer and arts advocate, Meek’s career embodies the ethos of the Texas Artist of the Year award in her steadfast devotion to both the creation and support of the arts over the years. An exhibition featuring Meek’s work will be on view in the ALH galleries from Sept. 10 – Nov. 27, 2021.

The league plans to publish a limited-edition catalog designed by the artist and Lindsay Starr, a San Antonio-based book designer and publisher. The catalog will feature a scholarly essay on Meek’s career by Assistant Professor Lauren Cross, CVAD coordinator for Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies along with color images chronicling Meek’s installation-based practice over the years.
